F.A.Q

  • What awaits you when you visit our clinic for the first time?
  • First, we register you at the reception, take your comprehensive oral x-ray (panoramic x-ray), and then start the examination. We ask questions about systemic diseases (diabetes, etc.), medications you use, and allergies. Because this information is essential for treatment. Then we do your oral clinical examination. If necessary, we take your intraoral photos and make a treatment plan suitable for you.
  • Is it necessary to visit the dentist regularly?
  • Many people do not like going to the dentist. If you are one of them, you may be asking yourself, “How often do I have to go to the dentist?” Even if you do not have a problem such as pain or fracture in your teeth, you must have heard that you should go to the dentist at least once in 6 months. This is a suitable period for individuals who do not have dental problems. Tooth decays and gum diseases are preventable in the initial stage with regular dental check-ups. For example, if tooth decay is detected initially, it can be treated with a filling, but it may require root canal treatment in later stages. In other words, with regular checks, you can minimize future problems and solve problems before they become worse.
  • Why do my gums bleed when I brush my teeth?
  • Bleeding gums is not normal. As a result of not brushing regularly or correctly, food residues accumulate especially in the junction of the teeth and gums. Not touching these areas with the brush causes these residues to harden and turn into dental calculus over time. Tartars cause deterioration of gingival health, gingival disease (gingivitis) and bleeding in these areas. Since the gums bleed, not brushing these areas causes the event to progress further. In this case, what needs to be done is to be examined by the dentist and brushed regularly after the tartar is cleaned.
  • Can scaling damage teeth?
  • Not cleaning the tartar impairs the gum health. For this reason, it is necessary to clean the dental calculus and make the gums healthy again. When done correctly, scaling has no harm. With ultrasonic scalers, dental calculus is removed by vibration. Afterwards, surface stains are cleaned by polishing with a mechanical brush. It should be checked regularly every six months, and if there are any formed dental calculus, they should be removed and the stains should be cleaned.
  • What are the causes of bad breath?
  • Bad breath can be physiological or pathological (occurring in the case of illness). Physiological halitosis is bad breath that occurs when you wake up in the morning. Low salivation, dehydration, hunger and some vitamin and mineral deficiency (vitamin A, B12, zinc and iron deficiency) can be caused. Apart from these, there can be many reasons for bad breath. These; oral causes (food residues accumulating on the tongue, saliva, bacteria, gingivitis, oral infections, gum diseases, dental caries), respiratory diseases (sinusitis, postnasal drip, rhinitis, lung infections), gastrointestinal system related diseases (reflux, parasites), odor due to systemic diseases (diabetes, blood diseases, kidney failure), drug use or food and beverage consumption. In order to determine the correct cause, a dental examination is necessary first. In the presence of persistent halitosis after the removal of intraoral causes, a doctor’s control is recommended in terms of underlying systemic and possible diseases.
  • Can laser teeth whitening damage teeth?
  • Teeth may lose their whiteness over the years due to food, drinks (coffee, wine and tea) and cigarette consumption. Although surface stains can be removed by scaling cleaning and polishing, tooth discoloration cannot be achieved. Teeth bleaching can be done with the whitening process. There are two types of treatment methods. The first of these is the method that gives faster results in your dentist’s office (In-Office bleaching), and the other is the method that you can apply yourself at home (Home bleaching). The whitening process gives very successful results with the indication of the right patient (having healthy teeth and gums with good oral hygiene). The bleaching process applied by the dentist in clinics is more preferred because it is more controlled and safer in terms of gums.
